Research in Progress Symposia

AMPP’s Annual Conference + Expo 2027 Research in Progress Symposia

The Research in Progress (RIP) symposia at the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo offer a dedicated platform for sharing the latest findings, emerging ideas, and ongoing projects from across the corrosion and protective coatings community and everything in between. RIP sessions are designed to showcase current or recently completed research, providing a space not only to present your work but also to engage in thoughtful discussion with peers and industry experts.

Each year, RIP symposia focus on specific, timely topics selected to reflect new trends and ongoing challenges in our field. Whether you’re a seasoned researcher or a student, this is your opportunity to gain valuable feedback, foster collaboration, and raise the visibility of your work.

Submit your abstract today to be recognized for your innovative research at AMPP Annual Conference + Expo 2027, happening April 11–15, 2027, in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Gerald Frankel

Gerald Frankel

The Research in Progress symposium on "Localized Corrosion and Materials Durability" will honor Professor Gerald S. Frankel’s 70th birthday and his influential contributions to corrosion science and engineering. Throughout his distinguished career, Prof. Frankel has advanced the fundamental understanding of how corrosion initiates, propagates, and can be controlled. His influential contributions comprise passivity and localized corrosion, including pitting, pit-growth stability, and repassivation, as well as corrosion-resistant alloy design, atmospheric and galvanic corrosion, inhibitors, protective coatings, and long-term performance of materials used in demanding infrastructure, energy, and nuclear-waste environments.
