About the Cathodic Protection Program

Cathodic protection is a critical component of corrosion mitigation. Our Cathodic Protection Program is the only program of its kind and an industry-standard that provides students with the theoretical and practical fundamentals for testing, evaluating, and designing both galvanic and impressed current cathodic protection systems. Cathodic protection systems are used across a wide array of industries and assets such as fixed offshore structures, oil and gas pipelines and storage tanks, ships, and more.

Who is the Cathodic Protection Program for?

As the most recognized and specified program in the world, our CP courses are geared towards providing the knowledge needed for certification including testing, evaluating, and designing of galvanic and impressed current cathodic protection systems. These skills lay the foundation for successful cathodic protection work in the field, which protects companies, public assets, and the environment.

This program is designed for:

  • Field Personnel
  • Engineers
  • Project Managers
  • Technical Sales Personnel
CP 1 Training

CP1 - Cathodic Protection Tester

The CP1 course provides both theoretical knowledge and practical techniques for testing and evaluating data to determine the effectiveness of both galvanic and impressed current CP systems and to gather design data.

CP1 - Certification

A cathodic protection tester is responsible for observing, recording, or measuring the effectiveness of CP systems. The certification also addresses field personnel functions and is an entry into the cathodic protection profession.

CP 2 Training

CP2 - Cathodic Protection Technician

The CP2 course provides intermediate-level training in both theoretical knowledge and practical techniques for testing and evaluating data to determine the effectiveness of both galvanic and impressed current CP systems and to gather design data.

CP2 - Certification

A cathodic protection technician certification indicates intermediate-level knowledge of corrosion theory and CP concepts, types of CP systems, and advanced field measurement techniques.

CP 2 Maritime Training

CP2 - Cathodic Protection Technician Maritime

Developed for NAVSEA (part of the U.S. Navy), this intensive course presents both theoretical knowledge and practical techniques for testing and evaluating data to determine the effectiveness of both galvanic and impressed current CP systems pertaining to shipboard cathodic protection.

CP2 - Certification

A maritime cathodic protection technician certification covers specific information pertaining to shipboard cathodic protection with theoretical knowledge and practical testing techniques to determine the effectiveness of galvanic and impressed current CP systems.

CP 3 Training

CP3 - Cathodic Protection Technologist

The CP3 course builds on the technology presented in the CP2 course with a strong focus on interpretation of CP data, trouble shooting and migration of problems that arise in both galvanic and impressed current systems, including design calculations for these systems.

CP3 - Certification

The cathodic protection technologist certification indicates knowledge of theoretical concepts and practical application of cathodic protection with a strong focus on interpretation of cathodic protection data, and cathodic protection troubleshooting.

CP 4 Training

CP4 - Cathodic Protection Specialist

The CP4 course focuses on the principles and procedures for CP design on a variety of structures for both galvanic and impressed current systems. The course discusses theoretical design concepts, considerations that influence the design (environment, structure type/materials of construction, coatings), design factors, and calculations (including attenuation).

CP4 - Certification

A cathodic protection specialist certification is the highest level of CP certification offered. It covers the theoretical concepts behind the design and considerations that influence the design and calculations (including attenuation) of a cathodic protection system. This certification is for those responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of cathodic protection systems.
