Washington, DC – (July 8, 2025) — The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP), the global authority on materials protection and performance, supports the historic funding levels for national security and critical infrastructure included in the newly signed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which became law on July 4, 2025.
Signed by President Donald Trump during an Independence Day ceremony at the White House, the legislation directs landmark investments in programs vital to America’s maritime strength, energy infrastructure, and industrial workforce, areas where AMPP members contribute daily to protecting and preserving the nation’s strategic assets.
Specifically, the law provides:
- $250 million for expanding maritime corrosion control programs, which will help safeguard Navy vessels, ports, and other maritime assets from costly deterioration.
- $450 million for additional maritime industrial workforce programs, strengthening the pipeline of skilled professionals needed to maintain and advance U.S. maritime capabilities.
- $1 billion in funding for "American Energy Dominance," including resources for enhancing the nation’s natural resource transportation infrastructure, such as pipelines.
- Enhanced 529 spending flexibility provisions, empowering American families to invest more effectively in career and technical education—an area where AMPP certifications are a leading standard.
"This historic level of funding for national security is a decisive step forward for America’s future," said Kern Williams, Government Relations Manager at AMPP. "These investments reflect an understanding that corrosion control, energy security, and skilled labor are essential to national security. AMPP looks forward to working with public and private partners to turn these commitments into real-world results that keep America strong for generations to come."
As the world’s leading authority on materials protection and performance, AMPP is committed to working alongside federal agencies, industry partners, and educators to ensure these investments deliver maximum impact.
