The Robotic Inspection Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together to further a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data for the dissemination of information on the applications of robotic inspection including non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques. The group is expected to have wide-ranging interests, mainly encompassing crawlers, drones, and underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to inspect various types of vessels and structures for materials protection and asset loss prevention.

    Dear forum members.

I would like to ask you for recommendations of papers and other sources of information about robotic inspections as a measure to identify areas of high susceptibility to damage in the internal coatings of pipes.

Thank you for your collaboration. I eagerly await your valuable contributions to this topic.

    Best regards,

    César Darío Muñoz Mesa

Hi Mr. César Darío Muñoz Mesa,

If you want to screen pipe corrosion under CUI, the ART crawler by Mistras and the PECA system by Eddyfi might support your needs. This is just a technical discussion without the intent of commercial endorsement as other robotic inspection technique may be available.

    Best Regards,

    Paul

    Hi Mr. Paul Su,

Thank you for your kind response. In this case, my interest lies specifically in the corrosion occurring on the internal part of the pipes.

    Best regards,

    César Darío Muñoz Mesa.

There are two components: one is the delivery method (the robot), and the other is the sensing system. One system you might look at is FloatArm from hibot Japan, available in Europe and the USA. This is agnostic to the sensing system and multiple sensing approaches have been deployed several versions of pulsed eddy current, two versions of tangential x-ray systems from QSA and Teledyne, plus the ability to do through-wall radiography using various DR recording plates and isotope sources. This allows you to design a range of solutions to your CUI program.
