AMPP is a member-driven organization led by two Boards of Directors responsible for guiding the organization and ensuring member and industry needs are served. The AMPP Board of Directors oversees the following business units in the organization: Awards, Certification, Accreditation, Membership, and Advocacy. The AMPP Board of Directors is conducting a Volunteer Call for individuals interested in serving on the Board. In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below, the Board welcomes, supports, respects, and values all individuals and groups and acknowledges all the ways people differ, including but not limited to, race, sex, gender, age, sexual orientation, and disability. The AMPP Board of Directors is also interested in considering candidates that are early in their career, new to industry, and rising leaders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Uphold the AMPP Bylaws.
· Dedicate the necessary time* to prepare, attend, and participate at board meetings. Attendance is mandatory unless approval for the absence by the Chair is given.
· Actively engage in board discussions.
· Ensure financial means are available to support your board role, should the funds be needed.
· Develop the Strategic Plan for the Association with the Board of Directors.
· Participate in ad-hoc committees or as a Board Liaison to Program Committees, as appointed by the Chair.
· Participate and adhere to the activities and responsibilities associated with the management of the Board’s performance.
· Each board member has a fiduciary obligation to act in the best interests of AMPP and the AMPP Global Center. As part of each board member’s fiduciary obligations, each board member is required to keep confidential any non-public information learned or obtained while serving as an AMPP or AMPP Global Center board member.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Must be a member of the Association in good standing for at least three (3) consecutive years.
· Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
· Have employer financial and time support for the required term. Ensure financial means are available to support your board role, should the funds be needed**.
· Be familiar with AMPP’s governance documents: the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws and Charters.
· Board membership precludes participation on Program Committees and Governance Subcommittees, other than as a Board Liaison or on an ad-hoc committee.

· (Global) Advocacy/Public Policy/Regulatory - advocate for sound public policy solutions that support essential investments in public and private assets and experience cooperating with regulators and see the opportunities to inject our expertise into regulations that impact AMPP businesses and personnel, and the public at large.

· Communication/Collaboration: enhance the public image, improve member engagement, ensure inclusivity and proper representation, share ideas and opinions, seeks to listen to and understand others, and supports final board decisions publicly.

ACCOUNTABILITY
The Board of Directors is accountable to the needs of members of the Association.
Service on the AMPP Board of Directors is without remuneration.
*Time Commitment
“Giving the necessary time” for your Board role includes preparing ahead of time for each board meeting by reading board agenda/book material, making annotations ahead of the board meetings, and being prepared to engage in the agenda conversation(s). Preparing for each board meeting can be one (1), up to, four (4) hours (more or less), depending on the amount of agenda content.
Board Meetings
Regularly scheduled board meetings are held three (3) times per year (Conference, Summer, and Fall) and each meeting is typically eight (8) hours in length.
In addition to regularly scheduled board meetings, there is typically a Joint Board Meeting held in conjunction with each individual official board meeting, so an additional three (3) eight (8) hour meetings per year.
Special Board Meetings may be called throughout the year, as needed, and are typically one (1) hour, but can be more if necessitated by the agenda content.
Additional Meetings
Board Directors attend Program Committee meetings as a Board Liaison. Number of annual committee meetings are determined by the Program Committee Chair but tend to be one (1) hour in length and once a quarter.
Board Directors attend Executive Committee meetings one (1) to two (2) times per year and each meeting is one (1) hour in length.
**Travel Reimbursement
Pursuant to the approval of the annual AMPP budget, Board Directors may be eligible for travel reimbursement (up to an approved amount) for in-person board meetings. Reimbursement availability and amount is communicated annually to all board members.
