
Shenyang, China – (May 8, 2026) — The AMPP IMR-CAS Student Club proudly held its inaugural session at the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR-CAS) in Shenyang, China.
The event marked an exciting milestone for corrosion and protection students in China, bringing together over 20 enthusiastic student members, including international Ph.D. students from Yemen, Nepal, and Nigeria. We were also honored to welcome a representative from the Northeastern University (China) Student Club.
We were delighted to host two distinguished guests:
- Professor Dong Junhua, Vice President of CSCP (Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection)
- Dr. Liu Guo, AMPP CP1-4 Instructor and longtime AMPP member
The session opened with a comprehensive AMPP Overview, introducing students to the organization’s mission, global activities, membership benefits, and various ways to get involved. Students gained valuable insights into how participation in AMPP can significantly advance their academic and professional careers.
Professor Dong Junhua shared his rich experiences in AMPP, highlighting the tremendous value of the organization and the benefits of active membership. His inspiring talk encouraged students to take full advantage of the global platform AMPP provides.
Dr. Liu Guo, who joined NACE in 2004 and has served in multiple volunteer leadership roles, delivered a heartfelt testimony of his personal and professional growth alongside the organization. He then gave an excellent technical presentation titled “Introduction to Cathodic Protection (CP) Technologies Development.” Dr. Liu’s talk covered:
- The origins of cathodic protection techniques
- The founding of NACE in 1943 by 11 CP experts
- The development of legendary NACE CP standards
- How electrochemical theories are applied to real-world engineering solutions
The content was rich and practical, helping students better connect their academic studies with industry applications.
The session concluded with a lively and heated discussion. Students asked many thoughtful and enthusiastic questions, demonstrating strong interest and engagement.
The club officers expressed their strong commitment to serving the club and its members. All attendees left the event feeling excited and proud to be part of the AMPP family.
