Houston, Texas – (June 30, 2026) — From June 30 through October 15, 2026, Materials Performance (MP) magazine is officially accepting nominations for its 2027 Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards program.

MP is a member magazine of the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP). For more than a decade, MP’s biennial awards program has recognized many of the top emerging technologies within the markets that AMPP serves.
“The winning innovations show potential for making a significant impact in corrosion control,” says Rebecca A. Bickham, Editor-in-Chief of MP. “They can be related to coatings and linings, materials, design, equipment, testing, monitoring, modeling and risk assessment, cathodic protection, or chemical treatment—anything directly relating to corrosion prevention and mitigation.”
Award nominations will be accepted from individuals, companies, organizations, and government agencies worldwide, and there is no submission fee. For 2027 nominations, the innovation must have been in some sort of development phase on or after January 1, 2022.
The nomination form asks for a full description of each innovation. This includes the need for the innovation; the process used for developing and implementing the innovation; an evaluation of the results; and criteria used to determine its success.
The nominations are then rated by a panel of leading corrosion experts, including input and guidance from MP’s technical editor. Each innovation is rated using a numerical scoring system, and the highest-rated innovations will receive the awards.
As they are received and vetted, all qualified nominations will be posted on the MP awards website in late 2026. Further details on the program, including additional nomination guidelines and submission forms, are available at the site.
Each innovation selected for an award will be honored at an April 2027 ceremony during the 2027 AMPP Annual Conference + Expo in Columbus, Ohio, USA. All winning innovations will also be highlighted in future editions of MP’s print and digital platforms.
