I'd like to thank everyone for attending the inaugural first meeting of our committee. First we discussed the purpose of the committee and that is we are to keep our eyes and ears out for new and future regulations from OSHA, EPA, FRA and other regulatory agencies and groups that may affect the AMPP community. Bring the information to our group, then pass it upwards to the larger TC group and potentially upward to other groups and committees top make future changes to keep our industry and its member ahead of the curve.
There were a few suggestions that were provided by myself and others of issues we see and hope that we can get ahead of. The issues included silica training for competent person, future OSHA lead standard with its many potential changes, trying to have the regulators from Missouri to accept the C3 class for industrial work versus the HUD class, which is what they require as of now and to educate our members who purchase and use expendable abrasives about the potential the abrasive may contain hazardous metals such as beryllium.
If anyone has any other ideas, do not wait till our next meeting, send them along, as we can schedule more meetings (via zoom), or if there is a large enough interest, we can have meetings at the mid-year or annual convention.
I look forward to having this committee active and provide useful recommendations to AMPP.
Thanks
