Project Name: Spotlight on Corrosion Report
Background: NACE International was established in 1943, by eleven corrosion engineers from the pipeline industry as the “National Association of Corrosion Engineers.” Today, NACE serves nearly 36,000 members in over 130 countries and is recognized globally as the premier authority for corrosion control solutions. Our membership includes engineers, inspectors, technicians, scientists, business owners, CEOs, researchers, educators, students and more, from nearly every major industry.
As part of our mission to protect people, assets and the environment from the adverse effects of corrosion, NACE has launched the Spotlight on Corrosion Project, a brand-new initiative aimed at raising awareness of the risks and expenses of this natural process, and the solutions for reducing them.
Corrosion poses a threat to several major industries, including manufacturing; oil and gas; infrastructure and transportation; power and utilities; and waste management, to name a few. NACE members have reviewed these industries to determine where the threat of corrosion is greatest for the American public and have determined [discuss decision/industry sector].
The goal of the Spotlight on Corrosion Report is to shine a “spotlight” on this issue to educate and inform consumers, municipalities, legislators and the media about the social and economic impact of corrosion, while offering solutions for mitigating similar threats in the future. The report should provide action plans for implementing the proposed solution(s) among these target audiences.
