NACE International is creating a Translations Review group and is looking for native Spanish-speaking members who have a deep understanding of Cathodic Protection. The reviewers will work collaboratively with a translation company and Spanish linguists to review the translation of NACE’s CP 1 course material.
Responsibilities:
- Review translated course content and suggest changes to the translation of technical content as needed
- Strictly adhere to NACE’s glossary of corrosion-related terms (which is translated into Spanish and will be provided) during the review process
- Meet all agreed-upon due dates for the review
- Meet with fellow reviewers and NACE’s Translations Manager at appropriate intervals to ensure project stays on track
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of Cathodic Protection
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering
- Knowledge of electrochemistry, electricity, electrical laws, series and parallel circuits, and meter operation
- A strong algebra background, with thorough understanding of unit conversions and scientific notation. A basic understanding of trigonometry and geometry is also recommended
- Ability to bring life and work experiences to the project
- Able to see the review project through to completion
Applicants must:
- be a NACE Member in good standing
- submit CV or resume
- hold a CP 3 or 4 Certification
- have excellent written and verbal English skills
- sign and return a non-disclosure agreement prior to start of project.
- have access to a computer and the internet
- be able to access secure web site to download and upload files
- be willing to use an online review tool, if available
- be able to download Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (free download), which includes commenting tools
- agree to meet project deliverables and deadlines
Time Commitment:
This volunteer position is remote. Responsibilities and time commitments for this project are estimated to be between 20 and 40 hours over the life of the project, depending on your level of involvement. The project is anticipated to last approximately 4 to 5 months.
