Bridge

The Bridge Technical Community of Interest is a group of professionals (both AMPP members and nonmembers) that will include, owners, manufacturers, consultants, contractors and others who have come together to share and discuss issues affecting the bridge industry and new and emerging technology. Through the shared knowledge of this diverse group, both geographically and from varying viewpoints, information can be discussed about current issues for both the design phase and construction phase. This can include the selection of containment to surface preparation and materials, abrasives, coatings, solvents, etc. during the design phase and issues during the actual construction phase with the contractor’s submittals, means and methods. The sharing of knowledge on how to deal with structural issues that could be detrimental to the life of the newly applied system can be discussed along with new and emerging technologies and how they can be incorporated into bridge coatings to streamline those processes and possibly lower the overall costs.

The Concrete Technical Community of Interest is a group of professionals (both AMPP members and nonmembers) that will include, owners, manufacturers, consultants, contractors, and others from various industries (Bridge, oil, gas, marine, rail, etc.) who have come together to share and discuss issues affecting the concrete industry and new and emerging technology in materials for both surface preparation, coating application and quality assurance, and quality control. Through the shared knowledge of this diverse group, both geographically and from varying viewpoints, information can be discussed about current issues for both the design phase and construction phase as they relate to surface preparation, coating application, and inspection. This can include the proper selection of materials during the design phase and contract specification development for the construction phase. The sharing of knowledge on how to deal with those issues and new technologies to protect those concrete structures with the newly applied coating system can be discussed and how they can be incorporated to streamline those processes and possibly lower the overall costs.

Hydrogen

As we are transitioning to hydrogen and hydrogen natural gas blends, considering that these technologies are not yet matured, there is a need to create a TCI that can identify and address challenges with the this industry. This TCI will provide a forum where the broad scope of the technical committees focuses on hydrogen specific issues. The TCI will monitor and asses hydrogen developments that are relevant to the AMPP community. In addition, the TCI will arrange seminars and other forums for industry, government and academic colleagues to participate in including AMPP Corrosion Conference, Corrosion Week and/or Fall Meeting.

This Section is now accepting self-nominations for these four positions: Trustee, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer.

Section Trustee
Elected for three-year term of office extending from July 1 through June 30.
Shall have previously served at least one term as an Officer on the Section Governing Board.
Serves as member of Area Board of Trustees representing the Section.

Section Chairman
Elected for one-year term of office extending from July 1 through June 30.
Accountable to Section Members and Governing Board for ethical oversight of the Section’s activities and funds.

Section Vice Chairman
Elected for one-year term of office extending from July 1 through June 30.
Accountable to Section Chair.

Section Secretary/Treasurer
Elected for one-year term of office extending from July 1 through June 30.
Through a majority approval of the voting members of the Section Governing Board, the position of Secretary-Treasurer may be fulfilled by one individual or designated to be fulfilled by two individuals serving in each role (Secretary and Treasurer) separately. If one person fulfills both roles, all elements of the job descriptions for the Secretary and Treasurer must be fulfilled.

Please keep in mind that you can only self-nominate for ONE position. The deadline for submitting a self-nomination is April 3, 2018. Ballots for all officer positions will be sent to Section members in May for election.

Requirements: To be considered on the Section Officer ballot, all candidates must be a NACE Member in good standing. You must be a member of the local Section that you are self-nominating for consideration.

For the position of Trustee, per the Section Operating Manual 7.2, candidates for Section Trustee shall confirm his/her company's support; and per 7.3 Section Trustee should attend all Area BOT meetings.

Please see the Section Operating Manual (Appendix A - page 12) for a list of the responsibilities and duties for the above positions.

Once you self-nominate, your membership will be verified. Upon verification of your membership you will be added to the Section Ballot and sent a request to complete a candidate profile online by April 30, 2018. Your profile should be completed to provide voters information on you as a perspective candidate for Section Leadership.
