Forming your own AMPP Chapter offers you an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact on your career and the industry. By creating a chapter, you can shape a platform for professional development through technical meetings, workshops, and webinars, enabling members to expand their knowledge and earn Professional Development Hours (PDHs).

Leading a chapter allows you to gain recognition, showcase your expertise, and contribute to shaping the future of the industry through standards development and outreach initiatives.

Establish a professional chapter

  1. Identify your chapter’s location

Building your own chapter is not only an investment in your success but also a way to create a thriving community for advancing the profession. You can set your chapter up in a few hours, following these steps:

    a.  Identify your chapter’s desired geographic area of operations

    b.  Is there a chapter already operating in that area? If so, have you contacted that chapter’s officers to describe your plans? Is there a way to work within the existing chapter, or is a new chapter needed to address the needs in your area?

  2. Contact AMPP

Contact chapters@ampp.org to express interest and recruit other AMPP members in your area to form your leadership team.

  3. Review documents

Review the following documents to understand the roles and responsibilities of your proposed chapter and officers:

    a.  AMPP Chapter Affiliation Agreement

    b.  AMPP Chapter Procedural Document

    c.  AMPP Code of Ethics

    d.  AMPP Privacy Policy

  4. Choose a name for your chapter (Article 2, Section 4 of the AMPP Chapter Procedural Document)

  5. For non-US/Canada Chapters: Decide whether your chapter be incorporated as a legal entity or hosted by another organization at launch

  6. Complete the AMPP Chapter Petition Form

    a.  Recruit 20 professional AMPP members in good standing, who are assigned to the Chapter in which they are elected, to be members of the proposed chapter and support its creation

    b.  Select your chapter officers (See Addendum A of the AMPP Chapter Procedural Document for job descriptions and qualifications)

    c.  Submit the completed form or any questions to chapters@ampp.org

  7. Petition review

Your petition will be reviewed by AMPP staff for accuracy and completeness and will be reviewed by the AMPP CEO and AMPP Area and Chapter Committee for approval. This process may take up to 6 weeks to complete.
