The Bridge Technical Community of Interest is a group of professionals (both AMPP members and nonmembers) that will include, owners, manufacturers, consultants, contractors and others who have come together to share and discuss issues affecting the bridge industry and new and emerging technology. Through the shared knowledge of this diverse group, both geographically and from varying viewpoints, information can be discussed about current issues for both the design phase and construction phase. This can include the selection of containment to surface preparation and materials, abrasives, coatings, solvents, etc. during the design phase and issues during the actual construction phase with the contractor’s submittals, means and methods. The sharing of knowledge on how to deal with structural issues that could be detrimental to the life of the newly applied system can be discussed along with new and emerging technologies and how they can be incorporated into bridge coatings to streamline those processes and possibly lower the overall costs.
The Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) assembled for the aim of investigating phase behavior, corrosion mechanisms and rates, and materials selection in CO2 separation, transport, and storage. The community aims to share experimental and experiential data, best practices, and recommendations for standards to further the safe development of CCS projects and assets globally.

The Cathodic Protection - Impact of Increased Electrical Transmission Loads TCI will address challenges from increased transmission loads on pipelines in shared rights-of-way due to reconductoring, new substations, and advanced technologies. The TCI will foster collaboration among stakeholders to develop best practices and guidance, raise awareness, and mitigate risks like AC corrosion and induced currents, while staying ahead of emerging trends impacting pipeline integrity.

The Cathodic Protection – Monitoring Technical Community of Interest will cover cathodic protection monitoring techniques such as use of coupons, probes, CIS and other available technologies on the market. Another big focus of this TCI would be to get the Corrosion Coordinating Committee back up and running to try to minimize interference issues among operators, making monitoring in congested areas slightly easier and more efficient.

The Cathodic Protection – Reinforced Concrete Infrastructure Technical Community of Interest will cover cathodic protection of reinforced concrete structures such as bridges and roadways. It will serve as a way for individuals to share lessons learned and learn about new advances in this area.

The Coating Inspectors Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing experience, knowledge, and information for the advancement of all inspectors. This group is expected to have a wide range of interests, including mentoring, "upskilling", soft skills, career advancement, networking, technical improvement and representing the inspection community within AMPP.
The Concrete Technical Community of Interest is a group of professionals (both AMPP members and nonmembers) that will include, owners, manufacturers, consultants, contractors, and others from various industries (Bridge, oil, gas, marine, rail, etc.) who have come together to share and discuss issues affecting the concrete industry and new and emerging technology in materials for both surface preparation, coating application and quality assurance, and quality control. Through the shared knowledge of this diverse group, both geographically and from varying viewpoints, information can be discussed about current issues for both the design phase and construction phase as they relate to surface preparation, coating application, and inspection. This can include the proper selection of materials during the design phase and contract specification development for the construction phase. The sharing of knowledge on how to deal with those issues and new technologies to protect those concrete structures with the newly applied coating system can be discussed and how they can be incorporated to streamline those processes and possibly lower the overall costs.
The Construction Technical Community of Interest is a group of professionals (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data for the construction industry. This group will include contractors, owners, manufacturers, consultants, and others from various industries (Bridge, oil, gas, marine, rail, etc.) to discuss issues affecting this community. This will also include new and emerging technologies as well. Topics may include production, equipment, labor force, training, materials, and quality control. Through the shared knowledge of this diverse group, both geographically and from varying viewpoints, information can be discussed that will address the needs of this community and provide solutions that will enhance the performance, steam line those processes and execution during the construction phase, and possibly lower the overall costs.
The Corrosion Under Insulation/Passive Fire Protection Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data for coatings, fireproofing, & insulation utilized in corrosive or atmospheric environments.
The Data Analytics Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data for promoting the exchange of corrosion information resources in the form of data and analytics to improve corrosion life cycle management and to reduce costs.
The Defense Corrosion Modeling Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information and/or data related to corrosion modeling for the aerospace defense industry. This group will identify the state-of-the-art in corrosion modeling, simulation, and data analytics and discuss the current gaps and needs in data and methodology.

The Fossil, Nuclear, Hydro Power Generation Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data to facilitate identification and resolution of corrosion-related problems of materials in various energy generating and delivery systems: nuclear, fossil fuel, radioactive liquid storage and transfer systems, and in the utilization of geothermal resources.
As we are transitioning to hydrogen and hydrogen natural gas blends, considering that these technologies are not yet matured, there is a need to create a TCI that can identify and address challenges with the this industry. This TCI will provide a forum where the broad scope of the technical committees focuses on hydrogen specific issues. The TCI will monitor and asses hydrogen developments that are relevant to the AMPP community. In addition, the TCI will arrange seminars and other forums for industry, government and academic colleagues to participate in including AMPP Corrosion Conference, Corrosion Week and/or Fall Meeting.

The Regulatory Compliance (Pipelines and Tanks) Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data for engineering practices for meeting existing and new regulatory requirements. This group will focus on changes to the regulations in the US as well as provide a forum for international members to discuss the regulations in their respective countries and how their companies approach and prove compliance with said regulations.

The Renewable Energy Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data to investigate problems, acquire service experience, exchange information, and prepare reports on the use of materials in renewable energy systems. The group is expected to have wide ranging interests encompassing biomass and biofuels, geothermal, photovoltaic and solar energy, wind energy and waste-to-energy.
This community is a way for Research Professionals (Academic, Industry, and Government) who are active within the Materials Protection and Performance industries to connect with peers globally and further the engagement and participation within the AMPP Research Program.
The Robotic Inspection Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together to further a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data for the dissemination of information on the applications of robotic inspection including non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques. The group is expected to have wide-ranging interests, mainly encompassing crawlers, drones, and underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to inspect various types of vessels and structures for materials protection and asset loss prevention.
This online community is a way for students to connect globally with other AMPP student members, helping each other develop and evolve. This community is to facilitate discussions about the different corrosion programs at different academic institutions world-wide, which could help students network as well as potentially decide where they would like to continue their studies/career.
