Description:

The Engineers Without Borders Chicagoland Professional Chapter is seeking a NACE member to speak at their upcoming meeting on Tuesday, November 24. They would like a high level explanation on corrosion mitigation methods (e.g. sacrificial anodes, ac mitigation, and coatings) for different types of EWB infrastructure projects. Examples of current projects are a water project in Guatemala (pump/ water main/ tank) and latrine/wastewater design in Kenya.

The volunteer selected for this opportunity will be asked to prepare a 10-15 minute presentation and submit it for review by Friday, November 20. The meeting will take place virtually on November 24 and will include a 10-minute Q&A session after your presentation.

 Audience:

The audience for this presentation is a group of professional engineers who are hoping to learn more about corrosion: "Most people in our chapter are unaware of corrosion and the implications of not protecting against it and that it should be taken into consideration for design. I think it would be a great opportunity to introduce people to the concepts and to help them have contacts or know how to reach out in the future if they need help on design work as it relates to corrosion."
