Thank you for making Advocacy Days 2026 a success

Advocacy Days 2026

Advocacy Days 2026 brought AMPP staff and member industry experts together in Washington, D.C., May 11–13, for important conversations focused on infrastructure performance, workforce development, and the future of materials protection policy. (I’m trying to convey that the experts are also members, but my brain couldn't do it.)

The event began on May 11 with an opening reception where attendees connected with fellow advocates, met with their groups, and prepared for meetings on Capitol Hill.

On May 12, participants took part in 54 meetings with congressional offices, committee staff, and federal agencies to discuss legislation including the PIPES Act, the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), and the SHIPS for America Act.

Throughout the discussions, AMPP members and technical leaders shared real-world perspectives on the long-term performance of infrastructure and the role corrosion prevention, standards, and workforce development play in maintaining critical assets across the energy, water, and maritime industries.

More than 40 participants took part in this year’s fly-in, helping ensure technical expertise and field experience remain part of the national conversation around infrastructure investment and implementation.

Why these conversations matter

Building infrastructure is only one part of the equation. Long-term reliability, safety, and performance depend on how assets are maintained, the standards guiding the work, and the skilled workforce supporting them.

Key discussion topics included:
  • Pipeline safety and integrity
  • Water infrastructure performance
  • Maritime and defense readiness
  • Corrosion prevention and materials protection
  • Workforce development and training
  • Industry standards and long-term asset management

Advocacy Days continue to create opportunities for AMPP members and industry professionals to bring real-world experience directly into policy discussions that impact infrastructure across the country.
