I am looking for any information, articles, books, publications, etc. that can help me with the stability of an established layer of magnetite under a polymer coating. Manufacture of the polymer coating states the carbon steel metal needs to be ~95% clean metal but attempts to clean the ID of the pipe (hydrolyzing) have been ineffective of removing the magnetite corrosion layer. Teh concern is if we were to install the coating over the magnetite, this placing the barrier between the magnetite and the flow of water, would this cause the magnetite to become less stable with its adhesion to the carbon steel piping.
Thank you in advance for your input.
