The Oil and Gas Materials Selection & Metallurgy Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data  for evaluation and methods of selection of types of metals for all types of equipment used for oil and gas production.

    Hello colleagues,

    I am gauging interest in the formation of a new TCI under TC 03 – Oil & Gas Materials Selection & Metallurgy that would focus on full-scale or fit-for-purpose environmental testing of materials. To ensure a suitable amount of content, I'm suggesting that the TCI includes a range of different field environments, including, but not limited to, sour, CCUS and hydrogen. A general description of the TCI would be as follows:

    A collection of testing organizations, system operators, and material or product manufacturers brought together to discuss methods or approaches for evaluating products or materials beyond small-scale coupon type testing where this approach has perhaps failed or been deemed unsuitable. 

    Full-scale or fit-for-purpose test methods are highly varied and often costly and complex. Bringing together those working in this space to share their work and ideas, best practices, and/or to potentially propose new full-scale test methods for standardization would help the industry arrive at more cost effective and value-added testing solutions.

    I've put together a very brief survey (< 3 minutes) to gauge whether a new TCI session (starting in 2027 in Columbus) would be warranted. If this topic has any interest to you, can I ask you to take a few minutes to respond? The form is included here:
