The PCIM Technician Certification is tailored for professionals working in pipeline systems who want to lead or contribute to integrity management programs. With at least 2 years of pipeline experience, candidates complete foundational courses before applying and taking two certification exams. 

Once certified, you’ll be equipped to support or manage pipeline integrity activities: performing corrosion assessments, recommending remediation technologies, and participating in integrity program implementation.

Steps to certification

  1. Meet work experience requirement

    2 years of verifiable work experience in a pipeline environment

  2. Enroll and complete course requirements

    Successful completion of – Internal Corrosion for Pipelines - Basic

    Successful completion of – Pipeline Corrosion Assessment Field Techniques (P-CAFT) Course

    Successful completion of the Ethics for the Corrosion Professional course or an equivalent training

  3. Meet application requirements

    Approved PCIM Technician Application

  4. Take required exams

    Successful completion of – Internal Corrosion for Pipelines - Basic Exam

    Successful completion of – Pipeline Corrosion Assessment Field Techniques (P-CAFT) Exam (delivered via Meazure Learning / ProctorU)
