The Chemical (High Temperature) Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information, and/or data for the performance of both metallic and nonmetallic materials in specific environments where sustained temperatures of 538 °C (1,000 °F) are encountered. Document experience with equipment and materials, disseminate information on life assessment techniques for solving industry problems.

    AMPP Coating's SMEs,

This thread was posted 4 days ago on our Chemicals-High Temperature TCI site and I would like to enlist the help and guidance from AMPP Coating TCI members.

Inorganic Zinc Paint is applied on a external surface of boiler, economizer and stack where maximum operating temperature is 227 C, Can thermal insulation be applied on external surface after inorganic zinc paint ?? Because as per NACE SPO 198 Clause 4.3.5 inorganic zinc paint can not be used of temperature range of 50 to 175 C.

    Please clarify.

We would appreciate knowing -- Does the SP0198 temperature limitation (caution)  for using IOZ primer coat  (under insulation), apply only when IOZ primer is the only coating?  Secondly,  does the SP0198, IOZ limit in 4.3.5, apply (as-well) when a suitable finish coat is applied per SP0198, Table 2?

    Thank you.

    Regards
