Required Water Volume for Bresle Patch – ISO vs Manufacturer ??

  • 1.  Required Water Volume for Bresle Patch – ISO vs Manufacturer ??

    Dear All,

We are using the Bresle Patch Method for soluble salt extraction as per ISO 8502-6:2020. For a patch size of 1250 mm², TQC Sheen recommends injecting 2.5 ml of water. However, according to the calculation provided in ISO 8502-6 (2.6 × 10⁻³ ml per mm²), the required volume should be approximately 3.25 ml.

I have also checked with other manufacturers, including Elcometer and PosiTector, and they recommend using 3 ml of water for the same patch size. I have already contacted TQC for clarification but have not yet received a response.

My concern is: What is the correct volume of water to be injected into the patch as per the standard? Should we follow the ISO calculation or the manufacturer's recommendation?
