Coatings 101 Workshop to Offer Overview of Industrial Projects

On the first full day of the 2021 Coatings+ conference, Charles Brown, Mike Baase, and Chris Farschon of Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. will present the Coatings 101 workshop from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. local time on Monday afternoon at the Phoenix Convention Center (North 225 A-B).

Each Coatings+ workshop consists of a non-paper presentation designed to provide attendees with useful training and skills on popular coatings topics. The workshops also offer professional and employment development opportunities, as well the the chance to address changes and programs resulting from the recent merger of SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings and NACE International to form the Association of Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP).

The Coatings 101 workshop will provide an overview of typical industrial protective coatings projects, including design considerations, material selection, surface preparation guides, ambient conditions, and basic quality control techniques. What participants will attain out of this course is a basic understanding of how protective coatings are specified and applied to meet the goals of a project.

The presenters will review and present information related to typical inspection instruments used on a paint project; surface preparation guides; how to read a product data sheet; and how to measure ambient conditions.
