Repair and Lining of Concrete Workshop

Concrete is claimed to be the second most common manmade material (after potable water), with about 1 cubic yard produced for every person on the planet per year, resulting in more than twice as much concrete being used as any other building material. Concrete is a composite of sand and gravel bound in a cement matrix.  Much of this concrete is reinforced with steel to improve its tensile properties.  Thermodynamically, steel will corrode at some point, but the high alkalinity passivates the steel until the pH falls, deleterious ions enter the concrete, or the electrical potential of the steel changes.

On Thursday, Dec. 16, Frank Rea of Consulex will host a workshop from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on the basics of repairing and lining concrete and the lessons learned for a successful lining installation. The uniqueness of concrete as a substrate, the importance of lining concrete, an outline of a repairing and lining concrete procedure, and examples of common errors from lessons learned will be discussed.

You can join the workshop at the Phoenix Convention Center, North 227 A-B.
