The Coatings Inspector Program fireproofing specialty is designed for those wanting more specialized training in fireproofing inspection. This specialty is an enhancement to your current Basic Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 1), Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 2), or Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 3) certification.

Coatings project managers, quality managers, inspectors, contractor supervisory level personnel, coating specification writers or coatings or equipment suppliers, coating consultants, or technical service representatives involved in the steel protective coatings industry.

How to achieve the Fireproofing Inspection Specialty

  1. Enroll and complete course requirements

    Recommended course: Corrodere’s Fireproofing Inspection eCourse

    Successful completion of the Ethics for the Corrosion Professional course or an equivalent training

  2. Meet certification requirements

    Current Basic Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 1), Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 2), or Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 3) certification

  3. Take required exams

    The Fireproofing Inspector Theory Exam (delivered via Examity) can be purchased through your Certification Portal.

Schedule the Exam

Candidates have four (4) years to complete all requirements, including a successful completion of the exam, and an approved application with the required work experience and education requirements.

Renewal requirements

Recertification will coincide with your Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) recertification every 3 years.

NOTE: AMPP reserves the right to return any incomplete applications or those that do not meet the requirements. All application fees are non-refundable. To avoid processing delays or forfeiture of fees, please ensure that the application is complete, meets all the requirements and payment has been received.
